The Summer Research Stipend provides a faculty member funding to work on a project during the summer that is designed to lead to the completion of scholarly/creative projects eligible for consideration under the criteria laid out in the Faculty Handbook under “Continuing Record of Scholarship.” Applicants seeking to complete scholarly or creative projects over the summer may receive a stipend of $3000 (taxable income) as an alternative to teaching summer classes.
The Publication Assistance Grant supports faculty members whose work has been accepted for publication by a scholarly press that demands authors provide funds to underwrite the cost of publication--commonly called a subvention fee. Unlike other Faculty Development grants, this comes from funds available from the Office of the Provost. The Faculty Development Committee will make recommendations to the Provost, but the final decision will rest with the Provost, as budget permits. Applications and supporting materials are accepted throughout the academic year. Applications received after the May commencement will be reviewed by the end of September of the following term.
