Professional/personal biography: After graduating with my BA from Western Michigan University, I went on to Northern Michigan University to being my professional career as a Residence Hall Director. After being in that position for 3 years, I went on to be the On-Campus Apartment Coordinator, Assistant Director of the Summer Orientation Program for two summers, and an Admissions Counselor at NMU, while completing my Master’s Degree in School Guidance Counseling. I finally left the Upper Peninsula of Michigan two years ago, and I’ve been at DU and in the Chicago area since August, 2008.

Most memorable college experience: It’s a toss up between my time on the Residence Life staff and being a part of the 300+ member WMU marching band and getting to travel with the sports teams to away games and conference tournaments. Both experiences created many life-long friendships and taught me a lot.

What I like most about DU:
I really love the small college campus atmosphere. You really get to know many of the students, faculty and other staff. It’s like having a really large extended family that’s willing to lend a hand when you need it!

Favorite activity to do in Chicago: Other than going to Cubs games in the summer and spending time in the city with my wife Kari, we really enjoy biking around the Oak Park & River Forest area checking out the many cool shops and restaurants.

Best advice to give to someone entering college: Get involved! Don’t just go to class and go back home or to your room. Join at least one club or organization and try to get out of your comfort zone once in a while. The skills, friendships, and experiences you will gain will more than likely help you out down the road!

Professional/personal biography: After receiving my BA from Benedictine University, I spent almost 3 years doing advertising research at NSA Media. After that, I totally switched gears and spent almost 2 years working in litigation with Kirkland & Ellis LLP. I just recently joined DU and the Academic Enrichment Center team. I’m a Trinity High School alum and it is good to be back in the neighborhood!

Most memorable college experience: I spent a summer abroad in Spain and it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. It was my first trip out of the country and I learned so much about myself as well as made some lasting friendships and connections.

What I like most about DU:
The small school setting. Everyone here is so welcoming and helpful.  You never feel as though you don’t belong and most people make it a point to remember your name.

Favorite activity to do in Chicago: Shop. Chicago has an excellent selection of stores for good shopping!

Best advice to give to someone entering college:  EXPLORE! Although it is good to have a general plan, it is a good idea to try new things. Get involved in different activities, step outside of your ordinary boxes and meet new people! This is one of those few times in life where you have the opportunity to go in several different directions at once and you never know where they may take you or what you may learn.
